METAL SHOP
The Visual Arts Building Wood and Metal Shop is an exceptionally well-equipped
and maintained facility located on the 1st floor of the Visual Arts Building.
The Wood and Metal shop is open for use to any student enrolled in the
School of Visual Arts classes. The shop serves as the core of activity
for a variety of classes and individual projects ranging from foundation
level classes to graduate students. The shop has a full-time supervisor
and technician available for assistance with art projects and technical
advice from 8:00am - 5:00pm and trained work-study monitors during the
evening hours.
WOODWORKING EQUIPMENT INCLUDES:
Radial arm saw, table saw, miter saw, 3 bandsaws, 2 scroll saws, several
belt and disc sanders, 2 drill presses, power mortiser, power carving
tools and flex shaft sanders, planer; jointer; lathes; as well as a variety
of hand tools, sanders, clamps and vices.
METALWORKING EQUIPMENT INCLUDES:
Several welders that offer a total of 5 types of welding processes, plasma
cutter, oxyacetylene torch cutter, sheet metal brake and box brake, hydraulic
shear, forming rolls, pipe and tube bender, sand blaster, threading machine,
horizontal and vertical bandsaws, circle cutter, machining lathe, forge,
stationary grinders, turret hole punch, and a wide variety of clamps,
hand tools and portable electric tools.
