
METAL ART/TECHNOLOGY
STUDENT ARTWORK: ART 217
Students in this course are introduced to all basic metalsmithing processes (sawing, filing, sanding, soldering, cold joining, metal forming, patination, etc.) as well as introduction to digital fabrication technologies through the incorporation of custom-created waterjet cut components.
These five images are examples of five typical projects completed during the semester:
Project 1: Abstracted Self-Portrait
Project 2: Bricollage of Merit
Project 3: Interior/Exterior (construction of meaning through opposition/contrast)
Project 4: Metaphoric Volumes (use of waterjet components)
Project 5: Final Culmination (narrative wearable in this example)
