Student drawingFoundations

All undergraduate studio art, interdisciplinary digital studio, and art education students in the School of Visual Arts begin their studio work in Foundations, which is composed of four art studio courses that they will take in their first year of study. The four courses, Art 197S (First Year Seminar, Beginning Drawing), Art 197B (Ideas as Objects), Photo 100 (Introduction to Photography), and Art 201 (Beginning New Media Art) will provide students with foundational skills and knowledge in both traditional and digital media. These foundational experiences are required to prepare students for advanced study in a specific area of concentration.
