CRITICAL STUDIES

Critical Studies in the Visual Arts provides both undergraduate and graduate students with opportunities to learn about the relationship between contemporary art and culture. Courses in this area focus on the social, historical, political, critical and aesthetic issues surrounding contemporary art making practices. By examining the cultural work of artists, critics, and the theoretical debates of our current age, students will learn how art images and ideas influence contemporary culture.
